Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders to Browns in Field Yates' Final 2025 NFL Mock Draft

Mike ChiariApr 24, 2025

ESPN's Field Yates projected the Cleveland Browns to secure a massive first-round haul in his final 2025 NFL mock draft on Thursday.

Yates had the Browns taking Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter with the No. 2 overall pick before trading back into the first round with the Washington Commanders at No. 29 and taking Hunter's Colorado teammate in quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

The top 10 selections in Yates final mock before the start of the NFL draft on Thursday night were as follows:

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer

1. Tennessee Titans: Cam Ward, QB, Miami

2. Cleveland Browns: Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

3. New York Giants: Adbul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

4. New England Patriots: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

6. Las Vegas Raiders: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

7. New York Jets: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

8. Carolina Panthers: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

9. New Orleans Saints: Jalon Walker, EDGE, Georgia

10. Chicago Bears: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State

If the Browns are able to pull off what Yates predicted, they will come out of the first round with the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner in Hunter and the 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in Sanders on the team.

Cleveland is coming off a 3-14 season, and there are clear and obvious needs on both sides of the ball.

Hunter can potentially make an impact as both an offensive and defensive player, although Yates noted that Browns general manager Andrew Berry said he views Hunter a wideout primarily.

At wide receiver, Hunter racked up 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns last season, and he added another great 36 tackles, 11 passes defended and four interceptions at corner.

Hunter would immediately form a dynamic wide receiver duo with Jerry Jeudy, who is coming off the best season of his career after recording 1,229 yards en route to his first Pro Bowl selection.

Also, Hunter could help out the secondary by playing some snaps here and there behind the starting cornerback duo of Denzel Ward and Martin Emerson.

The proverbial elephant in the room for the Browns is their quarterback situation, however.

Trading for Deshaun Watson has been an unmitigated disaster, as the former Houston Texans quarterback has never played in more than seven games in any of his three seasons in Cleveland.

A torn Achilles cut his 2024 season short, and after tearing it again and requiring another surgery, it is possible Watson doesn't play at all in 2025.

The Browns acquired Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles and signed veteran Joe Flacco to compete for the starting job, but they would benefit from bringing in a younger quarterback with a higher ceiling.

Sanders fits that bill after spending the past two seasons playing under his father, Deion Sanders, at Colorado.

After completing 69.3 of his passes for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions in 2023, Sanders truly came into his own last season, completing 74.0 percent of his passing attempts for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 picks.

Sanders played a big role in Hunter winning the Heisman, and he helped the Buffaloes go 9-4, which was their best record since 2016.

While Sanders entered the pre-draft process as the clear No. 2 quarterback in the class behind Miami's Cam Ward and a slam-dunk first-round pick, it is no longer a sure thing that he'll come off the board in the first 32 picks.

However, if Sanders slips past the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21, it will be open season for a quarterback-needy team such as the Browns to trade back into the latter portion of the first round to take him.

Sanders is far from a sure thing to thrive at the NFL level, but taking him and reuniting him with Hunter would undoubtedly create a ton of excitement in Cleveland.
