Shedeur Sanders 2025 NFL Draft Position Betting Odds Slide amid Steelers Rumors
While there has been some speculation suggesting Shedeur Sanders could end up with the Pittsburgh Steelers, his draft position odds have slipped as Thursday's NFL draft approaches.
As of Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET, DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Colorado quarterback's over/under draft position at 14.5 after it was previously 10.5. The lines also suggest he is far more likely to be picked after the 14th pick than before it considering the over 14.5 line is -450 (bet $450 to win $100) compared to +320 (bet $100 to win $320) for the under 14.5.
Given that slide, it comes as no surprise there are now head-turning odds for Sanders when it comes to the first few selections.
According to DraftKings, he is +750 to go No. 3 overall, +4,500 to go No. 4 overall and +5,000 to go No. 5 overall.
ESPN's Peter Schrager wrote Tuesday that Sanders "could go anywhere from No. 3 to the [New York] Giants to the second round" while projecting him to ultimately be the Steelers' selection with the No. 21 overall pick.
Pittsburgh landing the Colorado signal-caller at No. 21 would be welcome news for gamblers who bet on the over 14.5 line and also bring the AFC North team's seemingly never-ending pursuit of Aaron Rodgers fully under the spotlight.
Nobody has generated more headlines leading up to the draft than the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, but there is clearly plenty of uncertainty about where he will be drafted even if the Steelers are picking up some buzz.
But slipping to Pittsburgh would still be quite the fall for someone who wasn't long ago seen as a candidate to go No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans. Now Cam Ward is the presumptive No. 1 pick and Jaxson Dart may even hear his name called before the reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
It has reached the point that one NFL quarterbacks coach told Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated that Sanders might be a sixth-round pick if it wasn't for his famous father.
Perhaps all of this just ends up being a smokescreen and he is still one of the first players taken in Thursday's opening round. But the evidence and betting lines seem to suggest he won't be taken until at least the middle of the first round, if not later.
