NFL GM Praises 'Tough as F--k' Abdul Carter Ahead of 2025 Draft, 'He's An Alpha'

One day away from the 2025 NFL draft, the superlatives from people within the league are getting louder for some of the top players in this year's class.

Speaking to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, one general manager for an AFC team praised Abdul Carter for being "an alpha" on the field.

Another team executive described Carter as "tough as f--k" for the injuries he played through last season at Penn State.

"Classic Philly kid," the executive told Schultz. "Tough as f--k, played through a broken foot and didn't even know it. That tells me everything. … He also dominated as a linebacker for Penn State earlier in his career, then switched to edge and dominated again."

In addition to the foot injury, Carter also suffered a shoulder injury in Penn State's playoff win over Boise State. He played in the semifinal game against Notre Dame, recording two tackles for loss and one sack in a 27-24 loss.

All of Carter's physical traits and high upside as a prospect make it likely he will hear his name called very early in the first round on Thursday. B/R's NFL scouting department is projecting him to go No. 3 overall to the New York Giants.

Even though there has been some recent chatter about some within the Giants pushing for Shedeur Sanders in that spot, the expectation is still Carter will end up being the pick.

Carter, the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 class by B/R's NFL scouting department, has drawn comparisons to future Hall of Famer Von Miller. He was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year last season with 24 tackles for loss and 12 sacks in 16 games.
