Davante Adams Says If Rams Get 'Dysfunctional' He'll Blame Himself for Raiders, Jets
After a tumultuous 2024 season split between the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets, star receiver Davante Adams is starting to wonder if he's the problem.
Adams, who signed a two-year, $46 million contract with the Los Angeles Rams in free agency this offseason, told The Athletic's Michael Silver that he was motivated to join a stable organization following his difficult year. However, he admitted that if things go bad with his new franchise, he'll feel responsible.
"Well, first Iโve got to make sure itโs not me," Adams told Silver with a smile. "So, weโre going to get over there and see. If it gets dysfunctional, it means that I was the one making those organizations dysfunctional."

Adams played three games for the Raiders before suffering a hamstring injury and requesting to be traded. The team fulfilled his demands and sent him to the Jets, reuniting him with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. While the two of them hoped to recapture their glory days from when they were with the Green Bay Packers, they failed to turn things around in 11 games together in New York. The Raiders finished the season with a 4-13 record, while the Jets weren't much better at 5-12.
Adams is joining a Rams team that is coming off an NFC West title and a run to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Los Angeles won the Super Bowl during the 2021 season and is hoping to return to title contention this year. The 32-year-old said he wants to make a positive impact on a team that has already proven to be able to sustain success.
"This is like true optimism versus just hoping," Adams said. "Obviously, knowing what I know about the management there, the players, the team success theyโve had in recent years and just over time โฆ those are usually the type of teams that have stressed success. The most important thing was [joining] a good, winning team."
