Browns Reportedly 'Have Love' for Shedeur Sanders amid Giants, Saints, Steelers Rumors
The Cleveland Browns could look to solve their quarterback situation with Shedeur Sanders, even if it's not with the No. 2 pick in the draft.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on SportsCenter that the Browns "have love" for Sanders and could be a candidate to trade up to draft him if he falls into the teens:
"The Steelers could be an option. So, if he falls out of the top three, well not falls but if he doesn't go in the top three right now I don't see a natural home. It seems like the Saints could go quarterback, but they might not do it at No. 9. They could go cornerback or offensive line, defensive line. So where does that leave if? If I had to predict I would say somebody trades up to get him. If he kind of slides into the teens or later in the first round. I know the Browns do have love for Shedeur Sanders, probably not at No. 2 overall at this point, but they like his sort of computer-mind processing ability at the line of scrimmage. I'll say Browns for fun's sake. Browns or Giants move up to get him."
Sanders is rated as the No. 23 prospect and the No. 2 quarterback in the draft by Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department. He threw for 4,134 yards with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2024 with Colorado. He helped lead the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record and their first bowl game appearance since 2020.
Miami quarterback Cam Ward is heavily linked to the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 but beyond that Sanders and the other quarterbacks could land anywhere. The Browns and Giants have remained candidates although not necessarily with the No. 2 and No. 3 picks. The New Orleans Saints hold the ninth pick and could be in need of a quarterback and the Pittsburgh Steelers are in a similar spot at No. 21.
However, Cleveland could use some of their draft capital to grab Sanders and Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter, reuniting the college teammates. It also could put pressure on teams like the Steelers, who could be currently counting on Sanders to fall to the 21st pick.
The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
