Shedeur Sanders' Giants Workout Reportedly Went 'Well' amid 2025 NFL Draft Rumors

Joseph ZuckerApr 18, 2025

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a positive predraft workout with the New York Giants as the team weighs all of its options with the No. 3 overall pick, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

"I'm told it did go well," Fowler said on SportsCenter. "I'm told that head coach Brian Daboll likes to put those quarterbacks in private workouts in adverse situations, different situations, get them out of their comfort zone of a normal pro day setting. So, all of that was good. Otherwise, the Giants are not saying a thing about these workouts."

The NFL insider added that people around the league "expect that they go away from quarterback at No. 3." He posited New York, which is back on the clock with the 34th pick, could trade back up into the first round and get a QB, though, if the right player is available.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen told reporters earlier this week he doesn't think taking a quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft is "mandatory" after the team signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.

No GM is going to fully tip his hand before the draft, but Schoen's comments probably do reveal some of New York's mindset. Wilson and Winston are a solid pair to have on a short-term basis, so the sense of urgency surrounding the quarterback position is far less than it was before free agency got underway.

In Bleacher Report's most recent mock draft, Penn State edge-rusher Abdul Carter was the choice for the Giants.

"The New York Giants have the green light to go in any direction after signing veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston," B/R's Brent Sobleski wrote. "They can take the opportunity to put the pedal to the metal on defense and create an identity through their pass-rush.

"It's a familiar approach that has helped the organization win Super Bowls in the past."

Few fans will be totally shocked if the Giants pick Sanders in the top five. However, there probably isn't much to read from their recent visit.
