Milroe, Shough, Mccord, Howard to Browns, Giants, Jets, Steelers in Reuter's NFL Mock
Teams with early first round picks may look to grab their developmental quarterbacks in later rounds at next weeks NFL Draft.
Chad Reuter of NFL.com released his seven-round mock draft and had the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers opting for their quarterbacks in later rounds.
Reuter has the Browns taking Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe with the first pick in the second round, the Giants taking Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough with the first pick in the third round, the Jets taking Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord in the third round and the Steelers going with Ohio State's Will Howard in the fourth round

The mock had Cam Ward going first overall to the Tennessee Titans, Shedeur Sanders going sixth to the Las Vegas Raiders and Jaxson Dart going ninth to the New Orleans Saints.
That leaves the Browns, who currently have Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett as the available quarterbacks on the roster, with Milroe. He threw for 2,844 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2024 while also adding 726 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground.
He has some raw traits that could project well into the NFL but likely needs some refining. That could be a solid option under Flacco, who helped lead the team to the playoffs in 2023 and worked with 2023 first-round pick Anthony Richardson in the 2024 season while with the Indianapolis Colts.
The Giants could be a candidate to draft a quarterback at three but this mock draft has them getting Shough in the third. He threw for 3,195 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2024. Louisville was his third collegiate program and the 2024 season was also his seventh season at the FBS level.
Despite his elder age, his 6-foot-5, 225-pound frame makes him an intriguing prospect for the Giants to develop under Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.
The Jets signed quarterback Justin Fields to a deal in free agency but that doesn't mean a new young quarterback couldn't be an option. McCord had an excellent season for the Orange in 2024, throwing for 4,779 yards with 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2024. He also has a 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame that could work in the NFL.
Finally, the Steelers grab Howard in the fourth, which would likely not preclude the team from finding a solution at quarterback via free agency, like Aaron Rodgers.
In that case, Pittsburgh would hope Howard can eventually take the reigns after a year or two on the bench. He threw for 4,010 yards with 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2024 and led Ohio State to a College Football Playoff National Championship.
The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
