Rams' Puka Nacua Says 49ers' 'Window Closes' If Brock Purdy Gets Over $50M Contract
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua gave his thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers' extension negotiations with quarterback Brock Purdy.
โHe seems like a smart guy," Nacua said on the Games With Names podcast, via Joaquin Ruiz of NBC Sports Bay Area (41:30 mark). "They have a chance to still be in their window. And I think if he goes for ($50 million-plus), then the window closes.โ

Nacua also predicted that his NFC West rival would eventually agree to a deal with Purdy worth around $45 million annually.
A $45 million average annual value would place Purdy in a tie for No. 13 among the NFL's highest-paid quarterbacks, via Spotrac.
The 25-year-old showed promise throughout the start of his career in San Francisco, helping the team make a Super Bowl 58 appearance. He took a step back in 2025, though.
In 15 starts last season, Purdy completed a career-low 65.9 percent of his throws for 3,864 yards and 20 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions. The 49ers missed the playoffs with a 6-11 record.
While Purdy is reportedly unlikely to top $60 million per year on an extension, there doesn't seem to be a wide gap in contract talks.
49ers general manager John Lynch previously told reporters that he wouldn't consider it "too optimistic" that an agreement with Purdy could be reached before San Francisco begins its offseason workout program.
While both sides work towards a potential extension, Nacua doesn't believe that the 49ers will be able to stay competitive if Purdy's new deal crosses the $50 million threshold.
