Rory McIlroy Posts Masters Video After Securing Career Grand Slam, 'Keep Working Hard'

Rory McIlroy isn't done celebrating his historic victory at the 2025 Masters to cap off the long-awaited career grand slam.

In a video montage featuring highlights from his career posted on social media that was accompanied by the song "Fix You" from Coldplay, McIlroy shared a message to "keep working hard" and "never give up on your dreams."

The video opens with the infamous moment at the 2011 Masters when McIlroy led by three shots in the final round before hitting a triple-bogey on the 10th hole en route to carding an 80 and finishing tied for 15th.

It goes on to show many of the great highlights McIlroy had in the years after that collapse before transitioning to 2025 and the mounting pressure on him from outside voices, to say nothing of what he felt, to reach the top of the mountain at Augusta.

McIlroy didn't shy away from some of his blunders on Sunday, notably the shot on 13 that found the water, resulting in a double-bogey. The montage also included his missed par putt on the 72nd hole, leading to a playoff with Justin Rose.

Fortunately, we know the video has a happy ending thanks to McIlroy's brilliant second shot on the first playoff hole that set him up with a three-foot putt for the win. He sank it to capture the green jacket that eluded him for so long.

"This is my 17th time here, and I started to wonder if it would ever be my time," McIlroy said on Sunday. "I think the last 10 years coming here with the burden of the Grand Slam on my shoulders and trying to achieve that, yeah, I'm sort of wondering what we're all going to talk about going into next year's Masters."

McIlroy has been chasing the career grand slam since 2014 after winning the Open Championship. He had been close at Augusta several times over the years with four top-five finishes, including a second-place finish in 2022.

The win made McIlroy the fifth player in PGA Tour history with a career grand slam. He joins a group that includes Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Gene Sarazen and Ben Hogan.

McIlroy was already going to go down as one of the best players of all-time even without a Masters title, but it would have always been a dangling thread in his career if it never happened.

Now that he has added a Masters title, McIlroy is among the inner circle of legends in the sport with a career grand slam on his resume.
