Travis Hunter Calls Shedeur Sanders 'Best' QB in 2025 NFL Draft amid Giants Rumors

Paul KasabianApr 15, 2025

Two-way star Travis Hunter called ex-Colorado teammate and quarterback Shedeur Sanders the "best quarterback in the draft" in a conversation with Garrett Podell of CBS Sports.

"He don't fold under pressure, he is very accurate, and you know he's going to make the right plays, and he's going to the right thing with the football," Hunter said of Sanders. "He's the best quarterback in the draft, so it's pretty self explanatory. They know he's the best quarterback in the draft, so you shouldn't have to argue and talk about it."

Hunter's remarks on Sanders come amid word from Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz that the New York Giants, who pick third overall in this year's draft, are running private workouts with three quarterbacks in Sanders, Jalen Milroe and Tyler Shough.

All signs are currently pointing toward the Tennessee Titans, who choose first overall, going with Miami quarterback Cam Ward. Zac Jackson of the Athletic offered this recent report on that front.

"When the Titans canceled their private workouts with Hunter and Sanders, that sort of unofficially acknowledged that Tennessee is set with Ward at No. 1," Jackson wrote. "Multiple league sources believe the Browns and Giants had been working under that assumption for weeks."

So one of the draft's biggest questions is where Sanders lands. Having a ringing endorsement from the Heisman Trophy-winning Hunter, who caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns, could certainly help matters.

Sanders has largely been seen as the QB2 overall, and there's a host of teams that need a long-term signal-caller. The issue is Sanders may not be seen as a top-end first-round prospect. He notably ranks 23rd on the latest B/R NFL Scouting Department 2025 draft big board and lower on other big boards (e.g. 32nd on Yahoo Sports, 45th for Pro Football Focus).

But that being said, he was incredibly productive in college and helped turn around two programs at Jackson State and Colorado. That could certainly foreshadow success on the next level.

We'll soon find out his pro whereabouts with the draft beginning on Thursday, April 24.
