WWE, Topps Announce WrestleMania 41, Debut Patches To Be Worn For 1/1 Trading Cards

Mike ChiariApr 15, 2025

Topps announced Tuesday that an upcoming set of WWE trading cards will include 1-of-1 cards featuring patches worn by Superstars during their matches at WrestleMania 41.

Every wrestler on this weekend's WrestleMania 41 card will have a special WrestleMania patch somewhere on their gear, and the patch will subsequently be removed and placed in 1-of-1 cards that will be randomly inserted in packs as part of a future set.

Topps is also set to build upon the success it has enjoyed with 1-of-1 debut patch cards in its MLB line by bringing the concept to WWE.

Starting with the April 21 episode of Raw, every WWE Superstar who makes their debut on the main roster will sport a debut patch on their gear, which will later be placed in a 1-of-1 Topps card.

Fanatics Senior Vice President of Product Clay Luraschi further explained the debut and WrestleMania patch concepts in an interview with Anthony Sulla-Heffinger of Yahoo Sports' Uncrowned, saying:

"When we came up with the concept for the debut patch and then the WWE license came to us, it's the first thing you start thinking about. At the end of the day, the patches are an incredible mechanism for storytelling. Obviously, a Raw and SmackDown debut patch is a no-brainer, but you wonder how you can take it to another level—let's do patches for WrestleMania. WrestleMania is the pinnacle for most wrestlers. It should be celebrated, commemorated, archived in time. If we can be a part of that storytelling, it just feeds the passion of the fan and the consumer."

The 1-of-1 debut patch idea began in the 2023 Topps baseball set, and it has quickly become one of the crown jewels of sports card collecting.

Every MLB player who has made their debut since the start of the 2023 season has won a debut patch on their jersey in their first game. Those patches are then removed and placed in a 1-of-1 card that is also autographed by the player.

The MLB debut patch craze reached another level this past winter when Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes was part of the set.

Coming off a rookie season in which he was an All-Star starter, won the National League Rookie of the Year Award and was an NL Cy Young Award finalist, Skenes' MLB debut patch card sold for $1.11 million at auction last month.

While any WWE card will likely be hard-pressed to reach that level, it speaks to the significant interest in the concept.

Provided John Cena beats Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 41 to set the all-time record as a 17-time world champion, his patch card will almost certainly be the one every collector and wrestling fan wants most.
