Travis Hunter Says He'd Rather Quit Football Than Play Only WR or CB in NFL
Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter has made it clear throughout the predraft process that he wants to play both wide receiver and cornerback in the NFL, and he recently doubled down on his stance.
Hunter told Garrett Podell of CBS Sports that if an NFL team wanted him to commit to playing a single position, he would rather not play football at all.
"It's never playing football again," Hunter said. "Because I've been doing it my whole life, and I love being on the football field. I feel like I could dominate on each side of the ball, so I really enjoy doing it."

1 Sentence Describing Every NFL Team's Nightmare Scenario 😱
Hunter is one of the most unique prospects in the history of the NFL draft thanks to his ability to excel on both sides of the ball.
The 21-year-old won the 2024 Heisman Trophy after producing 92 catches for 1,258 yards and 16 touchdowns plus a rushing touchdown on offense while adding 36 total tackles, 11 passes defended, four interceptions and a forced fumble on defense. He's the only player in college football history to win both the Chuck Bednarik and Fred Biletnikoff Awards as the best defensive player and most outstanding receiver in a season, respectively.
Podell noted that Hunter played 713 offensive snaps and 748 defensive snaps in 2024. While the competition level in the NFL is much greater, the youngster is steadfast in his belief that he can sustain his production.
"I just feel very confident in myself, and I got a competitive spirit that I can do whatever I put my mind to, and I feel like I can do it," Hunter said.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders also expressed confidence that Hunter's two-way skills will translate to the NFL level.
"The NFL is a slow game. You huddle (every play). How is the contact nowadays? Minimal. That game is more conducive to him being successful than a college game," Sanders said at Colorado's pro day earlier this month. "College is tempo, tempo, tempo. Now, you're talking about you have to be in shape. Pros, how many seconds between plays? Please, he's going to go jogging after the darn game because he's going to have all that energy, man. He is built for this."
B/R's NFL Scouting Department predicted in its latest mock draft that the Cleveland Browns would select Hunter with the No. 2 pick. The team that selects him will surely be hoping to utilize his full array of abilities, so it will be exciting to see where he lands when the draft commences on April 24.
