NFL Teams Reportedly 'Genuinely Confused' About Jalen Milroe's Draft Invite
When a player is invited to attend the NFL Draft, it's typically because that prospect is expected to be a Day 1 pick. That might not be the case for Alabama's Jalen Milroe.
According to The Ringer's Todd McShay, teams were surprised to see Milroe get an invite to the draft.
"People in the league are genuinely confused as to why he accepted an invite to Green Bay," McShay said on The McShay Show (36:20 mark).

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Only 17 players get an invite to the draft, and most of them are widely projected to be first-round picks. The list includes names like Miami's Cam Ward, Colorado's Travis Hunter and Penn State's Abdul Carter, all of whom are projected to be taken inside the top three in the most recent mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
Milroe was a solid college quarterback for the Crimson Tide. While his passing numbers weren't outstanding—he had 2,844 passing yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions—he was one of the most mobile quarterbacks in college football, rushing for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground.
Still, it's hard to imagine Milroe will be off the board in the first round.
The first quarterback to be drafted will almost certainly be Ward. After him, Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart would seemingly be the next two taken. With Sanders and Dart not even locks to go in the first round at this point, Milroe being one of the first 32 picks seems like a long shot.
But McShay went on to mention that the league could know something about Milroe that hasn't been reported yet. Perhaps a team that doesn't necessarily need a quarterback at the moment will take him as more of a project pick or select him with a plan to use him in designed runs.
Whether Milroe will be a Day 1 pick remains to be seen, but the decision to give him a draft invite is a bit confusing.
