Dodgers, White Sox Reportedly Tabled Luis Robert Jr., James Outman Trade Talks
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox are no longer in trade negotiations regarding outfielder Luis Robert Jr., according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
The Dodgers and White Sox have "tabled" discussions on a deal that would have sent Robert to Los Angeles in exchange for outfielder James Outman and a "front-line prospect," via Nightengale.
The Dodgers previously discussed trading for Robert in December 2024, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Rosenthal also reported that the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants discussed trades with the White Sox involving the 27-year-old during the offseason.
Robert will earn $15 million for the 2025 season and has $20 million club options for both 2026 and 2027 before he's slated to hit unrestricted free agency in 2028. His contract also has a $2 million buyout in 2026 as well as 2027.
While Robert earned a Gold Glove in 2020 and was selected as an All-Star during his 2023 campaign, he's started off slow to open the 2025 season. In 13 games, he's recorded one home run and four RBIs to go along with a .178/.269/.267 slash line.
Chicago may wait and see if he's able to raise his trade value before exploring options closer to the July 31 deadline.
For the Dodgers, Andy Pages has served as their center fielder to open the 2025 season but has dealt with some inconsistency. Pages has hit just .149 in 15 games and hasn't looked comfortable switching to a full-time role in center after taking on multiple outfield positions in 2024.
Outman competed for the starting center fielder role entering the regular season, but he was optioned to Triple-A on March 19.
He's maintained a mere .642 OPS in 13 Triple-A appearances this year.
Both teams are reportedly stopping trade discussions, but they could resume once the deadline approaches.
