Jalen Milroe Talks Bond with Jalen Hurts, Says Eagles QB Has Been Part of NFL Journey
Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe spoke about the bond he has with Philadelphia Eagles signal-caller (and ex-Alabama star) Jalen Hurts during an appearance on NFL Live (1:35 mark).
"What I like the most about him is how authentic he is, and then our relationship has just grown throughout this period of time. But one thing that I always mention to people is that before I got to Alabama, you're in the recruiting process, his dad and my dad communicated before I got to Alabama.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
"It's different being a recruit during a period of time and then actually being on roster and experience what it's like, and so just being able to hear his thought process—definitely refreshing for me as a player before touching foot at Alabama. And so I remember that unique experience that my dad had with him, and his dad, and then now, being able to go through the draft prep as well, and so it's been great, just to build our relationship and um, he's definitely part of my journey for sure."
Milroe certainly has a great role model in Hurts, the 2020 second-round pick who has been the Eagles' QB1 for the past four years. Hurts has led the Eagles to NFC titles in two of his four full seasons at quarterback, including a Super Bowl title this past year.
Hurts had a unique path to the NFL after transferring from Alabama to Oklahoma a year after being benched for Tua Tagovailoa. Hurts starred for the Sooners and then landed in Philadelphia, which at the time had an entrenched QB1 in Carson Wentz. But Wentz and the Eagles struggled in 2020, and Hurts took over at the tail end of the season. He's a bona fide superstar and Super Bowl MVP now and very well could be on a Hall of Fame path.
Like Hurts, Milroe isn't seen as an elite quarterback prospect, but he also showcased tremendous college production and flashes of brilliance that could foreshadow a high NFL ceiling.
The latest B/R NFL Scouting Department big board has Milroe as the fifth quarterback and No. 77 overall prospect in the NFL draft. B/R NFL scout Dame Parson notably offered a pro comparison of "shades of Jalen Hurts with a jet pack & stronger arm."
Milroe will find out his pro destination soon enough with the NFL draft occurring from April 24-26. Regardless of where he lands, Milroe has a great sounding board and model to lean on in Hurts as he traverses the pros.
