Alex Ovechkin is celebrating passing Wayne Gretzky as the NHL's all-time goals leader with a new bespoke suit.

Designed by Tom Barnett New York, the suit features a lining commemorating each of the 895 pucks Ovechkin scored with and a collar stitched with "GR895."

Ovechkin scored the record-breaking 895th goal of his career last Sunday during the Washington Capitals' road game against the New York Islanders.

Barnett also designed a bespoke suit for Ovechkin when the Caps star scored career goal No. 802 to pass Gordie Howe as the NHL's second all-time leading scorer in March 2023.

The 802nd goal suit also featured a custom lining with images from Ovechkin's hockey career and personal life, including him winning the Stanley Cup in 2018 and embracing his family.

Ovechkin is set to play his first game as the league's all-time leading scorer on Thursday evening at home against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Capitals are celebrating by distributing rally towels featuring Ovechkin's goal No. 895 celebration to fans in attendance at the game.

Ovechkin has five more games to further extend the all-time record before the Capitals' playoff push begins.

The Hurricanes' 3-0 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday allowed the Caps to clinch the Metropolitan Division for the first time since 2020, setting them on track to face either the first or second Eastern Conference wild card.

Winning tonight would allow the Capitals to clinch the top seed in the East and lock in the second wild card as an opponent. That is currently set to be the Montreal Canadiens, although a late regular-season push by the Habs could result in the Capitals taking on the Ottawa Senators.

Gretzky still holds onto the all-time NHL playoff scoring record with 122 goals in 208 postseason games.

Ovechkin is currently tied for 15th among all playoff scorers with 72 goals in 186 playoff games. He will look to climb that list once the postseason begins on April 19.
