Tyler Shough to Visit with Giants, Browns, Raiders, More Amid 2025 NFL Draft Rumors

Mike ChiariApr 9, 2025

Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough reportedly has several visits lined up this week and next week ahead of the 2025 NFL draft later this month.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Shough met with the Cleveland Browns on Monday and is set to meet with the New York Giants on Wednesday.

Schefter added that Shough is also scheduled to meet with the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks next week, plus he has already met with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts.

Shough, 25, had a nomadic and injury-riddled collegiate career, spending time at Oregon, Texas Tech and Louisville over the course of seven seasons.

After providing only modest production in his first six seasons, Shough broke out last year at Louisville, completing 62.7 percent of his passes for 3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Last month, ESPN'sย Dan Graziano named Shough as a "potential riser" up draft boards following his performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, noting that "scouts love his ability and instincts, and they point out that his injury history is more bad luck-related than chronic condition-related."

A couple of weeks later, Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz called Shough "one of the fastest-rising prospects in the draft."

Shough was one of the few quarterbacks to take part in multiple drills at the combine aside from just throwing. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds, impressing with better-than-expected speed and agility.

He also measured in at prototypical size for an NFL quarterback at 6'5" and 219 pounds, which furthered the buzz he generated as a high-upside quarterback pick on Day 2 or Day 3.

The majority of teams that have met with Shough or plan to meet with him have an obvious need at quarterback.

Assuming the Tennessee Titans take Miami quarterback Cam Ward first overall, it could cause the Browns and Giants to address other positions at Nos. 2 and 3 overall despite their quarterback issues.

However, the Browns own the top pick in the second round at No. 33 and the Giants are scheduled to pick at No. 34, putting them in prime position to take Shough or another quarterback such as Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart or Alabama's Jalen Milroe there.

Either team could also opt to trade back into the first round for a quarterback they covet, and it isn't outside the realm of possibility that Shough could put himself in that conversation with some quality visits.

Teams like the Raiders and Jets don't necessarily have long-term answers at quarterback with Geno Smith and Justin Fields, respectively, which could make Shough attractive as a developmental backup.

Meanwhile, the Steelers have next to nothing at quarterback currently, as they await a decision from free-agent Aaron Rodgers.

The latest BR NFL Scouting Department big board has Shough listed as the No. 116 overall prospect and No. 7 quarterback in the 2025 draft, which suggests he has a fourth-round value.

That could hold true, but given the need so many teams have at quarterback, it won't be shocking if Shough shoots up draft boards and goes much earlier than that.
