The Lions are slated to face the Eagles in Philadelphia next season. The NFL has yet to reveal the full schedule, but we know the league opens the year with a marquee matchup.
Last year, for example, the Kansas City Chiefs began defense of their Super Bowl title by hosting the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of the 2023 AFC Championship Game.

The Lions and Eagles were the top two seeds in the NFC playoffs last season. Detroit's magical 15-2 run in the regular season came to a devastating end with a 45-31 loss to the Washington Commanders in the divisional around.
That loss allowed the Eagles to host Washington in the NFC Championship Game. They ran all over their NFC East rivals 55-23 en route to securing a berth in the Super Bowl.
Philadelphia carried that momentum into Super Bowl 59 against the Chiefs, dominating the AFC champs 40-22 in a game that wasn't anywhere near as close as the final score shows.
The Lions are no strangers to being the opponent in a season opener. They upset the Chiefs 21-20 in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign, which helped propel them to their first division title since 1993.
Detroit hosted Philadelphia in Week 1 of the 2022 season. The Eagles won a high-scoring affair 38-35 in a game that featured a combined 841 yards of offense, including 397 yards on the ground and seven rushing touchdowns.
