Rounding Up Latest 2025 NFL Draft Rumors Around the League
The NFL Draft emanates from Green Bay April 24-26, with teams looking to secure future playoff appearances and potential Super Bowl titles by selecting the college stars that will form the foundation of their organizations for years to come.
The Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants make up the top of the first round and will have opportunities to either select the game-changers that will hopefully reverse their recent fortunes or field trade offers that could see them move back and compile more picks.
Which of those teams are NFL insiders hearing about and which players are they being linked to ahead of the big event? Find out with this latest collection of rumors.
Abdul Carter Meets With The Giants
1 of 3
Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter may be the best player in this year's draft and the New York Giants are doing their diligence when it comes to the pass rusher.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Giants head coach Brian Daboll had breakfast with Carter Sunday and that the former Nittany Lion will visit the team facility in New Jersey on Thursday.
Carter compiled 23 sacks, five forced fumbles, an interception, and 173 total tackles in his three seasons in Happy Valley and will look to bring his explosive, game-changing play to the NFL. He should be a top three pick in the Draft and with the Giants selecting a the three spot, it makes sense that they would want to get to know a player who could solidify the defensive side of the ball for them for the foreseeable future.
The Giants finished in the Top 10 in team sacks in 2024, though, and were nowhere near as good offensively. The team needs a playmaker at quarterback, a leader who can change fortunes of the once-proud organization and get them back to contending both for the playoffs and a Super Bowl, hence their second appearance in this collection of insider reports.
Giants, Browns Among Teams Attend Colorado's NFL Showcase
2 of 3
The Giants joined the Cleveland Browns at Colorado's NFL Showcase, where they had the chance to see quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter up close and personal, per Schefter.
Sanders is the second-best QB in this draft, just behind Miami's prolific passer, Cam Ward.
In his four seasons (two with Jackson State and two with Colorado), Sanders was careful with the ball, throwing just 27 interceptions to 134 touchdowns. He never had a passer rating below 151.7 and never threw for less than 3,200 yards.
He did hold onto the ball far too long, enduring 152 sacks in four seasons.
Still, the good outweighs the bad, at least on paper, and Sanders could conceivably enter a situation in New York where he would have the opportunity to sit behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and learn the position rather than being thrown into the fire and potentially having his growth on the big stage stunted.
If Hunter is available and the Giants opt not to go with a quarterback and instead take the best player available, they will be getting a dynamic playmaker who flashed brilliance on tape throughout his collegiate career and capped it off with a Heisman Trophy win in 2024.
Raiders to Host Ashton Jeanty, Quinn Ewers
3 of 3
The Las Vegas Raiders are a team in need of several pieces, especially on offense, if they hope to realistically compete for the postseason in the foreseeable future. They appear to know that and according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team will host Heisman finalist running back Ashton Jeanty and Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers this week.
Boise State's Jeanty carried 374 times for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2024 as the nation's best running back. He was a touchdown machine during his three years with the Broncos, finding the end zone 50 times.
He would be a dynamic edition to a backfield that felt the absence of Josh Jacobs in 2024, when Alexander Mattison led the team with 420 yards.
Based on the importance of Marshawn Lynch to what head coach Pete Carroll wanted to do offensively during his time in Seattle, it would make sense that the new Raiders coach would want an explosive, workhorse running back like Jeanty on his roster.
Ewers is an interesting choice in that the team just traded for and extended Geno Smith for two years. The former Seahawks quarterback is still a quality starter, even if the last two seasons did not net the same results as his first year as the lead signal-caller. Bringing in the former Longhorn Ewers would seemingly be with the intention of starting him in the future, after a season or two of sitting and learning behind Smith.
There are worse ideas than playing the long game and drafting a potential starter in the second round, but given the needs the Raiders have across the board, one has to wonder if it is the best use of valuable first and second-round picks.
