NFL Insiders Think Travis Hunter Planted 'a Seed' That He Wants to Be WR at Pro Day
Some NFL teams reportedly believe Travis Hunter's actions at the Colorado pro day on Friday indicated that he prefers to be a wide receiver at the next level.
During an appearance Saturday on SportsCenter, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler discussed the situation, saying:
"He had the streets buzzing with just the way he was moving around, the athleticism he showed as a wide receiver, and then, you know, talking to teams last night, they thought he was planting a seed that, 'Hey, I want to be a wideout.' He didn't do one backpedal yesterday as a cornerback, despite a lot of teams seeing him as a cornerback above a receiver."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Hunter is one of the most unique and versatile prospects to enter the NFL in years, as he excelled at both wide receiver and cornerback during his college career.
His two-way ability played a significant role in him winning the Heisman Trophy last season, racking up 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns as a receiver, and 36 tackles, four interceptions and 11 passes defended as a corner.
At Colorado's pro day, Hunter ran routes and caught passes from quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who is also expected to be a high pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Fowler noted that NFL teams are "grappling" with how they will use Hunter, as they are unsure whether to make him solely a wide receiver or cornerback, or two use him at both spots in some way.
Some teams are reportedly considering utilizing him primarily as a wide receiver, while also working him in as a cornerback on third downs.
Regardless of the uncertainty, Fowler added that NFL teams "almost don't care because he's so talented and he's going to be such a star in the league, they just want to get him."
No matter how Hunter is deployed, all signs point toward him being among the top picks in the 2025 NFL draft.
In its latest mock draft, the BR NFL Scouting Department projected that Hunter will go third overall to the New York Giants.
Fowler said the Giants at No. 3 or possibly the New England Patriots at No. 4 are the "absolute floor" for where Hunter will land on draft night.
