Every NFL Team's Dream Scenario in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft

Brad GagnonApr 4, 2025

In just three weeks' time, we’ll be reflecting on the opening night of the 2025 NFL draft and looking ahead to how the events of that evening might impact Rounds 2 and 3, as well as the rest of the event.

In the meantime, we can only speculate on an April 24 spectacle that—for now—includes all 32 teams.

Let's take a quick look at the dream scenario for each of them.

Picks 1-10

1 of 3
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DEC 28 Valero Alamo Bowl - BYU vs Colorado
Travis Hunter

1. Tennessee Titans: They keep it simple and draft Cam Ward, and the former Miami quarterback eventually lives up to the hype as the new face of this desperate franchise.

2. Cleveland Browns: The Titans pass on Ward, and Cleveland has its answer at quarterback without having to trade up.

3. New York Giants: The best player in the draft, Travis Hunter, drops to them here. And they either pair him with Malik Nabers to make a hard run at offensive success with Russell Wilson, or they trade the pick for a king's ransom from a team desperate to land Hunter or Shedeur Sanders.

4. New England Patriots: Any scenario in which both Ward and Sanders are taken in the top three, leaving the Pats with either Hunter or potential cornerstone edge-rusher Abdul Carter.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars: The division-rival Titans botch the top pick and the Jags immediately address a major need with former Michigan defensive lineman Mason Graham.

6. Las Vegas Raiders: Shedeur Sanders falls into their lap without a need to trade up. The quarterback comes with risk, but he's worth it outside of the top five for a team that needs a new franchise signal-caller.

7. New York Jets: They trade back a few spots and still land the draft's second-best receiver, Tetairoa McMillan, in the top 12. He and Garrett Wilson could help the offense take off with Justin Fields under center.

8. Carolina Panthers: A team in desperate need of a high-impact defender has its choice between edge Jalon Walker and cornerback Will Johnson, both of whom are potentially top-five prospects in this class.

9. New Orleans Saints: Sanders drops, and they take a chance on a potential franchise quarterback without trading up.

10. Chicago Bears: While everyone is focused on QBs and primo defenders, offensive tackle Will Campbell slides to the bottom of the top 10 and the Bears have their long-term answer on Caleb Williams' blind side.

Picks 11-20

2 of 3
Arizona State v Arizona
Tetairoa McMillan

11. San Francisco 49ers: The Bears' scenario plays out, but they take the more obvious tackle Armand Membou, leaving Campbell for San Francisco as the team rebuilds in the trenches and seeks a long-term replacement for Trent Williams.

12. Dallas Cowboys: Tetairoa McMillan drops to them and they add to the receiving corps in a major way while resisting the temptation to waste a top-12 pick on a running back.

13. Miami Dolphins: A team needing to replace a departed star safety gets the best player in this class at that position. Hello, Malaki Starks.

14. Indianapolis Colts: A team in need of a safety valve for quarterback Anthony Richardson sits back and has a choice between tight ends Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland in the middle of Round 1, which could enable them to drop back a handful of spots and still land one or the other.

15. Atlanta Falcons: A run on non-edges (easily possible) leaves Jalon Walker, Shemar Stewart and Mike Green on the board when the Falcons are on the clock, enabling them to trade back a few spots and still land one while adding plenty of draft capital.

16. Arizona Cardinals: The Cowboys pass on McMillan and he falls into Arizona’s lap as a future pairing with Marvin Harrison Jr.

17. Cincinnati Bengals: A run on non-edges (easily possible) leaves Jalon Walker, Shemar Stewart or Mike Green on the board into the middle of Round 1, and the Falcons and Cardinals either trade back or go in other directions. This is a good spot for the Bengals considering their need at that particular position.

18. Seattle Seahawks: Any scenario in which Campbell or Membou drop outside of the top 10, enabling the Seahawks to leverage their two second-round picks to move up for one of the top two offensive linemen in the draft.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: One more time: A run on non-edges (easily possible) leaves Jalon Walker, Shemar Stewart or Mike Green on the board midway through Round 1, enabling the Bucs to make a bold leap or even cross their fingers for one of the draft's top edges. Donovan Ezeiruaku would be a consolation prize.

20. Denver Broncos: Ashton Jeanty slides into the middle of Round 1 (entirely feasible considering the running back culture) and the Broncos pounce, immediately bolstering their offense for Bo Nix to build in his sophomore season.

Picks 21-32

3 of 3
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: JAN 10 CFP Semifinal Cotton Bowl Classic - Ohio State vs Texas
Jahdae Barron

21. Pittsburgh Steelers: An epic slide for Sanders cannot be ruled out if the Browns, Raiders and Saints pass in the top 10. Teams could be thinking about next year's class, and the Giants and Jets have committed to other guys. If Sanders drops into the middle of Round 1, the Steelers ought to consider a trade-up and a swing of the bat.

22. Los Angeles Chargers: The Chargers aren't really positioned for some sort of magnificent dream, but as long as either Matthew Golden or Colston Loveland are there, they will be happy. I suppose a wild dream scenario might be Tetairoa McMillan or Tyler Warren.

23. Green Bay Packers: They're probably going "best player available" at receiver, edge or corner, so the dream is likely a simple slide for Matthew Golden, Mike Green or Jahdae Barron.

24. Minnesota Vikings: A slide from Barron or Malaki Starks would be huge considering their needs in the secondary, but a Vikings team low on draft picks might get the most thrill out of maxing value on this pick to move back.

25. Houston Texans: More important than hitting on this pick is that the Titans, Jaguars and Colts don't strike gold first, fifth and 14th, respectively. The Texans need to keep this simple with the best offensive lineman available and hope their division rivals screw up.

26. Los Angeles Rams: Someone slides big-time and a team desperate for a critical puzzle piece (Kansas City? Washington? Chicago has two picks early in Round 2) makes them an offer to move down and collect several more picks. The Rams lack a second-rounder and need to add depth across the board.

27. Baltimore Ravens: That the AFC South-rival Browns don't somehow land Ward and end an era of quarterback woes? Aside from that, it's the hope an elite defender like Starks, Brown, Green or Stewart drops to them.

28. Detroit Lions: Just give the Lions a shot at Shemar Stewart, Mike Green, Mykel Williams or Donovan Ezeiruaku, and it's as dreamy as it gets for a team picking in the bottom five. They need someone like that to support Aidan Hutchinson on the edge.

29. Washington Commanders: Just give the Commanders a shot at Shemar Stewart, Mike Green, Mykel Williams or Donovan Ezeiruaku and it's as dreamy as it gets for a team picking in the bottom four. They need a lot of juice there following Dante Fowler's departure.

30. Buffalo Bills: When you're picking this low, the dream might be that division rivals with top-10 picks like the Patriots and Jets don't hit jackpots. More specifically, a slide from cornerback Barron combined with a modest trade-up could be the ultimate scenario for Buffalo.

31. Kansas City Chiefs: They could use another first-round strikeout from the Raiders. A slight slide from offensive tackle Barron into their lap would be icing on the cake.

32. Philadelphia Eagles: The Giants swing and miss in general, the Cowboys blow their top-10 pick on a running back and the Commanders miss out on a first-round-caliber defender.
