Jaxson Dart to Steelers, McMillan to Cowboys in Field Yates' 2025 NFL Mock Draft

Doric SamApr 2, 2025

While the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to wait for a decision from free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, another expert expects them to address the position in the 2025 NFL draft.

ESPN's Field Yates unveiled his latest mock draft on Wednesday and predicted that the Steelers would use the No. 21 pick to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. Yates noted that Rodgers signing with Pittsburgh shouldn't hinder the team from drafting a signal-caller and building for the future.

"While it seems the Steelers are the most likely landing spot for Aaron Rodgers, signing him would not preclude them from looking toward the future at quarterback," Yates stated. "Rodgers is 41 years old, and each coming season is a true year-to-year proposition. But Pittsburgh hasn't even signed Rodgers yet, meaning Mason Rudolph is the current QB1. Let's lock up another signal-caller for the Steelers here."

Dart has risen up draft boards in recent months and became frequently linked to the Steelers due to the team's questionable quarterback situation. Pittsburgh is unlikely to have a shot at drafting Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, leaving Dart as a potential option with the 21st pick.

"Dart broke Eli Manning's school record at Ole Miss for passing yards (4,279) and led the FBS in yards per attempt (10.8) in 2024," Yates added. "He has good mobility and accuracy, throwing 52 touchdowns and 11 interceptions over the past two seasons."

Elsewhere in Yates' mock draft, he feels that the Dallas Cowboys will use the No. 12 pick to add another weapon on offense in the form of Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who is widely regarded as the top receiver prospect behind Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter.

"At 6-foot-4 and 219 pounds, he is a nightmare assignment for a cornerback in man-to-man coverage," Yates wrote. "Plus, he has outstanding ball skills and a catch radius that makes quarterbacks want to target him in the red zone. Over the past two seasons, McMillan compiled 2,721 yards. He'd give Dak Prescott the second top-end receiver that Dallas has long been seeking opposite CeeDee Lamb."

Fans will learn who their favorite teams add to their rosters when the NFL draft commences later this month on April 24.
