Giants HC Praises Russell Wilson's 'Phenomenal Deep Ball,' Creates 'Explosive Plays'
New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll shared his thoughts regarding new quarterback Russell Wilson during the NFL's annual league meeting on Tuesday.
"He makes good decisions with the football," he told reporters. "He's athletic. He's a little bit older, so maybe not as athletic as 2013-14, but certainly has ability to use his legs, extend plays, great explosive plays, phenomenal deep ball thrower. Has created a bunch of explosive plays."
In particular, he believes Wilson's downfield throwing will benefit the team's young offense.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
"I would say we have some fast guys on the perimeter and we have some big, young tight ends that can get down the seam," Daboll said. "Where that goes from here, we've got to get together and put together something that's good for everybody. Look forward to seeing Malik [Nabers] in his second year. Glad we got [Darius Slayton] back. Keep working with the other guys."
Wilson, 36, hasn't been great in recent seasons, however. While his counting stats from last season don't look terrible—2,482 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, five interceptions, a 63.7 completion percentage in 11 starts—the Pittsburgh Steelers lost their final five games of the season, including a Wild Card Round showdown with the Baltimore Ravens, and were willing to let him walk in free agency.
He'll be a bridge quarterback, regardless, as the Giants need to find a long-term solution at the position either at this year's NFL draft or the next. In that regard, he should be a solid temporary addition.
