NFL Exec Praises Jalen Milroe, Says He's Not Just a Running QB and Carves Up Zone
Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe is earning praise from an NFL assistant general manager, who said he is more than just a running quarterback.
“He’s one of the most intriguing guys in the entire draft. There’s a narrative that he’s just a running quarterback, but that’s way off," One NFL executive said, per Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz. "His deep ball can be a major weapon at the next level. I’ve watched him a lot — he’s very capable in the pocket and carves up zone defenses well. There’s a lot to work with, and I like the kid.”

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
The Alabama quarterback finished his junior season with the Crimson Tide, throwing for 16 touchdowns and 2,844 yards, along with 11 interceptions, while completing 64.3 percent of his passes.
Milroe’s ability to run the ball has always been his best trait. Last season, he rushed for 726 yards and a staggering 20 touchdowns—more than Alabama’s leading running back, Jamarion Miller, who finished with 668 yards and seven scores.
However, after his Pro Day performance, those around the league are taking greater notice of his deep-ball accuracy and pocket presence.
Most recently, the Pittsburgh Steelers have shown interest in drafting Milroe with the No. 21 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
Colin Cowherd of FS1's The Herd, said the Steelers "really like" Milroe amid rumors of a possible pursuit of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
"I talked to an NFL exec last night, very well-connected, and this is a keep your head on a swivel, Aaron Rodgers. I'm told the Steelers really like Jalen Milroe. Twenty-first pick, first round. So if Aaron signs with Pittsburgh, it's gonna become Kirk Cousins," Cowherd said (h/t Steelers Depot's Joe Clark). "They're taking a quarterback. If the 21st pick, Milroe's not taken, Pittsburgh is leaning now and taking him."
Even if the Steelers land Rodgers, Milroe could be a valuable asset as a go-to option for quarterback sneaks and designed runs.
