Shedeur Sanders to Giants at No. 3 in NFL Draft Would Be 'A Bit Rich,' Per Insiders
While the New York Giants may consider taking a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, there is reportedly a belief by some in the league that taking Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders that early would be a reach.
During an appearance Saturday on SportsCenter, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler said there are people in the NFL who feel taking Sanders third overall would be "a bit rich," as there are teams that don't even have a first-round grade on him.
After releasing Daniel Jones midseason, the Giants finished 2024 with Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito as their quarterbacks, and they posted one of the worst records in the league at 3-14.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Over the past week, the Giants have been hard at work addressing the quarterback position, signing a pair of veteran free agents in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.
Fowler noted that while those signings don't necessarily preclude the Giants from taking a quarterback in the first round or on Day 2 of the draft, there are people in the league who believe it could be a sign that they instead to take the best player available at No. 3 such as Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter or Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter.
Assuming Miami quarterback Cam Ward goes No. 1 overall to the Tennessee Titans or No. 2 to the Cleveland Browns, it would leave Sanders and Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart as the only quarterbacks with a potential first-round grade.
Fowler suggested that rather than taking one of them third overall, the Giants could address another position of need and then either trade back into the first round or hope one of them falls to their pick in the second round at No. 34 overall.
Sanders, who is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback and current Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders, starred at Colorado for two seasons after starting his college career at FCS Jackson State.
After a solid first season at Colorado, Sanders was even better in 2024, completing 74.0 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
As a result, Colorado went 9-4, posting its best record since 2016. Also, Sanders finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting and won Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors.
In its latest mock draft, the BR NFL Scouting Department predicted that Sanders would go second overall to the Browns, leaving the Giants to take Hunter third overall.
The BR NFL Scouting Department also ranked Sanders as the No. 18 overall player in the class on its latest big board.
Sanders' fate will likely be learned on April 24, which is when the first round of the draft takes place at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
