Hunter Renfrow, Raiders Reportedly Set Free-Agent Visit amid WR's NFL Comeback Bid

After not playing last season, veteran NFL wide receiver Hunter Renfrow is set for a free-agent visit with the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport noted that Renfrow previously visited with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday, and he could take part in additional visits after meeting with the Raiders.

Renfrow, 29, spent his entire five-year NFL career thus far with the Raiders from 2019 to 2023.

After winning two national championships at Clemson as a reliable receiver for Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence, Renfrow was selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft.

He instantly established himself as a threat out of the slot, recording 49 receptions for 605 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie, followed by 56 catches for 656 yards and two scores in his second season.

Renfrow's true breakout occurred in 2021 when he set career highs with 103 grabs for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns en route to the first and only Pro Bowl selection of his career.

At that point, a strong case could've been made for Renfrow being the best slot receiver in the NFL, but things went downhill for him in 2022.

A concussion cost him seven games, and even when healthy, he was a much smaller part of the offense under head coach Josh McDaniels than he was under previous head coach Jon Gruden.

As a result, he finished with just 36 catches for 330 yards and two touchdowns, which were career lows at the time.

Things didn't get any better for Renfrow in 2023, as he set new career lows with 25 receptions for 255 yards and no touchdowns, leading to his release in March 2024.

Now, Renfrow is looking to make a comeback, and Rapoport noted that he does indeed plan to play in 2025.

If Renfrow can return to anything close to the form he displayed at Clemson and over his first three NFL seasons, he has a chance to be a massive steal for whichever team signs him.

The Raiders created a huge hole at wide receiver last season when they traded Davante Adams to the New York Jets, leaving Jakobi Meyers as the only reliable wideout on the roster.

Given that Vegas has essentially done nothing to address the position this offseason, Renfrow would have a chance to come in and contribute immediately under new head coach Pete Carroll.
