Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart Have 'Identical' 2025 NFL Draft Grades from Todd McShay

Julia StumbaughMar 27, 2025

NFL draft analyst Todd McShay is placing Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart on the same tier ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

"I like Shedeur a lot... and I might be on an island, I've got identical grades on Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart," McShay said in his QB Deep Dive episode of The McShay Show (26:45 mark.)

McShay later added at the 1:24:00 mark: "I continue to say, there's no gap in my mind. I think Shedeur is just as likely as Dart, and Dart is just as likely as Shedeur, given the circumstances, where they're drafted... the talent level, and the tape, is just as good, if not better, with Dart. You've got to get some questions answered... but he's got a great chance to succeed."

McShay classified both Sanders and Dart as Tier 3 quarterbacks, which he defined as "quality values in the bottom half of Round 1," when comparing historic quarterback rankings at the 43:17 mark.

There are no quarterbacks in the 2025 draft ranked in McShay's Tier 1, classified as "Day 1 starters" with the potential to be future All-Pros.

McShay placed the top three quarterbacks of the 2024 draft class— the Chicago Bears' Caleb Williams, Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels and New England Patriots' Drake Maye— in that category.

Cam Ward, the projected top pick of the upcoming draft, was classified by McShay as a Tier 2 quarterback, which he defined as players who could become "eventual high-end starters."

Like J.J. McCarthy, chosen by the Minnesota Vikings with the No. 10 pick of last year's draft, McShay believes Ward would be worth a top-15 pick in any draft class.

Sanders and Dart are meanwhile share a ranking as late Day 1 picks, on the same tier as the Atlanta Falcons' Michael Penix Jr. and Denver Broncos' Bo Nix.

The Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, the two teams selecting at the top, are still in need of long-term solutions at quarterback heading into the draft.

The latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft by the B/R NFL Scouting Department predicts Ward and Sanders will go off the board with the top two picks, but doesn't project Dart as a first-round pick.
