Titans GM Says 'Everything is Still on the Table' for No. 1 NFL Draft Pick Amid Rumors
Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi is still evaluating all of his options with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
"I would say everything is still on the table," Borgonzi said this week at Miami's pro day, per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site. "From the beginning I said I wanted to go through the whole process, and I felt like our priority was to build the offensive line first, and we added (tackle) Dan Moore and (guard) Kevin Zeitler.
"Now we're going through the process here with the college quarterbacks. But I'd say everything is still on the table right now."
Keeping the No. 1 pick and taking Miami quarterback Cam Ward is the most straightforward path for Tennessee.
Surely the Titans aren't going to start Will Levis or Brandon Allen for a full season, and Ward is widely considered to be the top QB available. He ranks ahead of Colorado's Shedeur Sanders on Bleacher Report's 2025 big board.
However, Ward isn't being talked about like a can't-miss franchise quarterback like some prospects in the past. Having evaluated the Hurricanes standout, B/R NFL scout Dame Parson compared him to Titans legend Steve McNair but gave him an 8.3 overall grade. For some context, Drake Maye (9.3) and Caleb Williams (9.2) were graded more highly last year.
Borgonzi's comments come as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported this week the Titans like what they've seen from Ward but remain willing to trade their first-round pick.
Moving back in the first round would probably eliminate their chances of getting Ward or even Sanders. As a value proposition, perhaps it's the better way to strengthen the roster, though.
Schefter's report and Borgonzi's remarks are likely just the typical posturing any team with a top-five pick does in the weeks leading up to the draft.
A GM doesn't want to lean too far in either direction. If you look desperate to trade back, then it gives an impression you aren't all that enamored with a player you're likely to take. Make it unequivocally clear you're not trading the pick and you close the door—no matter how long the odds—on getting an offer that's too good to turn down.
Don't be surprised if the 2025 draft opens in anticlimactic fashion with Ward holding a Titans jersey on the stage while standing alongside NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
