NFL Legend J.J. Watt Named Analyst for CBS Broadcasts with Ian Eagle for 2025 Season
CBS Sports has revamped its NFL commentary lineup with the addition of a future Hall of Famer.
Per The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, J.J. Watt will become an NFL analyst for the 2025 season and will partner with legendary play-by-play commentator Ian Eagle on CBS's No. 2 team. Watt reacted to the news by sharing a hilarious exchange of texts between him and Eagle:

Marchand noted that Eagle's former partner Charles Davis will transition to college football to replace Gary Danielson, who is retiring at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
CBS reportedly "is determining Davis’ role for this season before he moves into college in 2026." It was noted that Davis' contract had expired before he agreed to a new deal with the broadcasting company, and he will likely be paired with Brad Nessler to call the top Big Ten games.
The move to the booth represents continued growth for Watt in his budding broadcasting career. Upon retiring from the NFL after the 2022 season, he joined The NFL Today as a studio analyst to provide his perspective as one of the best defensive players of his generation.
Watt got his feet wet in the booth when he joined Eagle to call a Christmas Day game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs on Netflix this season. Prior to the game, he lent his comedy chops to Netflix by starring alongside comedian Shane Gillis in a sketch:
Watt will be following in the footsteps of several NFL stars who became in-game analysts for CBS, such as Tony Romo, Trent Green, Tiki Barber, Jason McCourty, Jay Feely and more.
