NFL Draft Rumors: Cam Ward to Have Private Workout with Titans amid Trade Buzz

Adam WellsMar 25, 2025

The Tennessee Titans are going to know Cam Ward better than most of his family at the rate they are going.

After sending a huge contingent to Miami's pro day on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Titans are going to have a private workout with Ward amid increasing buzz he will be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Schefter noted the Titans are still open to hearing offers for the top pick, but the feeling is it "now would take an even stronger package" to get them to move off that spot.

The Titans had president of football operations Chad Brinker, general manager Mike Borgonzi, head coach Brian Callahan, offensive coordinator Nick Holz and quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegeeย in Miamiย on Monday.

That came after the Titans' contingent took Wardย out for a dinnerย on Sunday night.

Ward is making no secret that he wants to be the top pick. The 22-year-old said in an interview with NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe and Brian Baldinger after his pro day he told Titans officials he was "solidifying" his status as the No. 1 player in the 2025 class.

There was a time when it seemed like the No. 1 selection might be up in the air, both in terms of who which team would be making it and which player it might be.

Brinkerย told reportersย in January the Titans wouldn't "pass on a generational talent" with the first pick. That was at a time when it was still thought that none of the quarterbacks were slam-dunk options at No. 1 overall.

NFL Network'sย Ian Rapoportย reported on Feb. 9 that the Titans were keeping "all options on the table," including potentially trading the pick.

Things certainly appear to have changed in recent weeks. The Titans are going all-out in their efforts to get as much time with Ward as they possibly can. It's always possible some team makes an offer that's hard to refuse, but it seems like it would take a huge haul and a lot of convincing to move them out of their current spot.

B/R's NFL scouting department has Wardย projectedย as the No. 1 pick in its most recent mock draft. The Titans' lone move at quarterback in free agency thus far was to sign Brandon Allen.

Will Levis, who was benched for two games late in the 2024 season, is the only other quarterback on Tennessee's roster right now.

It would be a huge upset at this point if anyone other than Ward goes No. 1 overall to the Titans when the draft begins on April 24.
