The two squads finished up triples tied at 2 apiece, setting up an interesting finish in singles. It was just the second time this season that a match has been tied heading into singles.

New York's Cameron Young and Atlanta's Justin Thomas squared off on Hole 10. New York opted to throw the hammer, and Young delivered with a nine-foot putt for eagle to win the hole and give his club a 4-2 lead. It was Thomas' first singles loss of the season.

Hole 11 between Rickie Fowler of New York and Billy Horschel of Atlanta saw another hammer throw, this one from Atlanta. Horschel came through with an 11-foot putt in the clutch, tying the match once again.

Atlanta's Patrick Cantlay and New York's Xander Schauffele tied on Hole 12, keeping it a 4-4 match heading into the final two holes.

On Hole 13, Thomas missed a short putt and Young made him pay, hitting a three-foot putt to take the lead. Hole 14 saw Atlanta use its final hammer throw, but New York declined that hammer and the two clubs went into the final hole in a tie.

Both Schauffele and Cantlay had relatively easy putts to close out the fifth hole, but Schauffele lipped out to hand Atlanta the 6-5 win.

Atlanta and New York will play Game 2 of the best-of-three series on Tuesday. If New York can come away with a win, it will force Game 3 afterward.

Both teams seemed dialed in on Monday, and fans should be in for another exciting battle on Tuesday.
