Asante Samuel Responds to Shannon Sharpe Video amid Viral Comments on Deion Sanders

Timothy RappMar 24, 2025

The heated T-step debate between Asante Samuel and Deion Sanders now includes Shannan Sharpe.

On Sunday, Sharpe responded to that debate by saying there was no comparison between Sanders and Samuel:

And that... didn't sit well with Samuel.

"You are also brainwashed, Shannon Sharpe," Samuel responded on social media. "I'm not worried about what everyone perceives to be true, like yourself. I stand on facts and you've yet to talk about facts. You can easy be manipulated just like everyone has because of marketing. I bet you won't debate me. Big facts!!!"

So how exactly did we get here?

On Thursday, Sanders said he wasn't a fan of the T-step technique, when defensive backs plant their foot sideways before quickly stopping and changing direction. He felt it was an unnecessary and unnatural technique and is an advocate for the bicycle technique when coming out of breaks.

Samuel disagreed with Sanders' take on the technique, essentially arguing that the NFL Hall of Famer didn't need to use the T-step to create explosiveness in his cuts given his otherworldly athleticism, but many players do.

Sanders did not appreciate being called foolish:

And then Samuel had just a few more thoughts on the matter:

Got all that?

This isn't a new debate between the two, either. Sanders has been calling out the T-step technique for years, and Samuel has been responding in kind. You can be the judge of who is right, but one thing seems for certain—so long as Sanders and Samuel have breath, they will probably be arguing over this particular technique.
