Fantasy Baseball Free Agent Pool: Strikeout Kings

This is a story mentioning some reasonably available players to assist you in the strikeout category. I realize that some of these players will come with a high ERA and WHIP because if a pitcher has low numbers in those categories and a good K total, they’re already spoken for. 

Some of these guys are middle relievers, who can help you if you are beginning to max out in innings pitched.

Robinson Tejeda, Kansas City Royals

Robinson Tejad had 14 K last week in 11-and-one-thirds innings (11.1 K/9) with a 0.00 ERA and a a 0.71 WHIP. On the year, he's 2-1 with 69 K's (53-1/3 IP), a 3.21 ERA, and a 1.24 WHIP. He's owned in seven percent of Yahoo! Plus, two percent of Yahoo! Public, 0.5 percent of ESPN, and two percent of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Ross Ohlendorf, Pittsburg Pirates

Ross Ohlendorf has been coming on with 23 K in his last 20-and-one-thirds innings (10.2 K/9), including striking out 11 Cardinals on Sept. 5. On the year, he’s 11-9 with 101 K (163-and-one-thirds IP), a 3.97 ERA, and a 1.27 WHIP. He’s owned in 33 percent of Yahoo! Plus, 15 percent of Yahoo! Public, 3.9 percent of ESPN, and 43 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Freddy Garcia, Chicago White Sox

Freddy Garcia hasn’t been electric, but he’s been steady with five K in each of his last four starts (7.4 K/9). On the year, he’s 1-2 with 23 K (28-and-two-thirds IP), a 4.40 ERA, and a 1.29 WHIP. He’s owned in nine percent of Yahoo! Plus, 1.1 percent of Yahoo! Public, two percent of ESPN, and six percent of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Wade Davis, Tampa Bay Rays
