NFL Rumors: 'Sense Around the League' Cam Ward to Titans Has 'Momentum' at No. 1
One month out from the start of the 2025 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans reportedly may be leaning toward addressing the quarterback position with the No. 1 overall pick.
During an appearance Saturday on SportsCenter (beginning at the 1:45 mark), ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler said there is a "sense around the league" that there is "some momentum" behind the idea of the Titans taking Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the top pick:

Despite that, Fowler said the Titans have yet to make a final decision, noting that they want to go through a "very thorough process" in the coming weeks before settling on a choice.
While the Titans are still going through the decision-making process, Fowler said Ward "acquitted himself well" during the interview process, and the Titans view him as "coachable."
After stints at FCS Incarnate Word and Washington State, Ward transferred to Miami for his senior season in 2024, and he improved his draft stock significantly in the process.
Ward posted a 10-3 record as a starter last season and completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while also rushing for 204 yards and four scores.
Ward finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting and won the Davey O'Brien Award, which is given annually to the best quarterback in college football.
While Colorado's Shedeur Sanders looks like a surefire first-round pick and Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart has put himself in the conversation as well, Fowler reported that the sense within the NFL is that Ward has separated himself from the other quarterbacks in the class.
Will Levis, who was a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, has started 21 games for the Titans over the past two seasons, posting a 5-16 record.
Last season, he went 2-10 and completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
With veteran quarterback Mason Rudolph leaving the Titans to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency, it leaves Tennessee with little to speak of at quarterback besides Levis.
That could potentially be a sign that the Titans plan on going with a quarterback at the top of the draft, and Ward will likely be the target if that is the case.
Fowler mentioned the Titans' desire to trade down and still get Ward in a perfect world, but with quarterback-needy teams in the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants sitting at Nos. 2 and 3 overall, it seems the Titans will have to stick and pick at No. 1 if they truly want Ward.
