Video: Rams GM Details 'Grueling Month' of Matthew Stafford Contract, Trade Talks
Los Angeles Rams general manager called this offseason's contract negotiations between the organization and Matthew Stafford a "unique experience" and described it as a "grueling month" during an appearance on Tuesday's The Pat McAfee Show.
"At the end of the day, everyone—Matthew, his family, Sean [McVay], our coaching staff, myself, our organization—we all realized, you know what? We really wanna take on this journey together," he added. "And it was—let's call it 'cool'—to rekindle our relationship, get rejuvenated to chase great."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Rams allowed Stafford and his agent to explore potential trades—and the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders were interested—before the two sides agreed to a restructured contract.
Stafford remains one of the better quarterbacks in football, even at 37. He threw for 3,762, 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2024, completing 65.8 percent of his passes. He led the Rams to the NFC Divisional Round, where they gave the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, their toughest test of the playoffs.
The Rams are better off with Stafford rather than without him, at least until they identify a long-term successor. He's shown little signs of slowing down, however, and clearly wanted to remain in Los Angeles despite the grueling negotations.
