Cowboys Rumors: Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb Called Cooper Kupp to Recruit WR

Before signing with the Seattle Seahawks, veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp reportedly fielded a recruiting pitch from a star duo.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on The Adam Schefter Podcast (34:10 mark) that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and wideout CeeDee Lamb contacted Kupp to try to convince him to join the team.

"Last Thursday, the Cowboys reached out about Cooper Kupp and they were interested," Schefter said. "Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, who I understand it, were on the phone with Cooper Kupp talking to him about the idea of coming to Dallas, and it was floated out there. And then the Cowboys heard the numbers, and they were at numbers that the Cowboys weren't going to get to."

Kupp ultimately signed with the Seahawks on a three-year, $45 million contract following his release from the Los Angeles Rams. The deal represents a homecoming, as he's a Washington native and he attended Eastern Washington before being drafted by the Rams with a third-round pick in 2017.

Instead of joining Lamb and Prescott, Kupp will be added to a new-look passing attack in Seattle led by newly signed quarterback Sam Darnold, who will be replacing Geno Smith after he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Seahawks also released longtime wideout Tyler Lockett and traded star receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers before bringing in Kupp and veteran free agent Marquez Valdes-Scantling to join rising star Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the outside.

Kupp is coming off three straight lackluster seasons due to injuries, so he will be motivated to prove that he made the right choice by signing with Seattle.
