NFL Insider: Browns Could Draft Shedeur Sanders with No. 2 Pick amid QB 'Desperation'
With the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns could select Shedeur Sanders amid their "desperation" for a quarterback, per The Athletic's Zac Jackson.
Former Miami quarterback Cam Ward is expected to go No. 1 overall and the Browns could explore trading up if the Tennessee Titans are open to a deal, per Jackson. If they remain at No. 2, they will likely target Sanders with Kenny Pickett as the team's only healthy quarterback right now.
NFL Draft Expert Todd McShay also broke down why he believes the Browns will take Sanders in his latest podcast:

"I truly believe Shedeur Sanders is in play with that No. 2 pick for the Cleveland Browns," McShay said, also noting the Browns are on Sanders' list of preferred destinations.
The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback finished last season with 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns in addition to 10 interceptions with a 75.5 quarterback rating.
In addition to Pickett, the Browns restructured quarterback Deshaun Watson's contract after he tore his achilles during Week 7 of last season, and cleared $36 million in cap space for the team ahead of the next season, per ESPN's Field Yates.
According to Jackson, the Browns were aiming to draft a quarterback this season regardless, but if they waited until their second pick in Round 2, they couldn’t be sure what caliber of player would still be available.
