Giants Rumors: Russell Wilson Considered NY 'a Viable' Landing Spot 'For a While Now'
Free-agent quarterback Russell Wilson has viewed the New York Giants as "a viable option for a while now," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fowler reported Sunday on SportsCenter that Wilson visited with the Giants on Friday, having met with the Cleveland Browns a day earlier.
New York is chasing another veteran signal-caller, Aaron Rodgers, though that pursuit may prove to be fruitless.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Per Fowler, Rodgers hasn't given any indication when he'll decide with the Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers extending "standing offers," and neither appears to be his preferred choice.
The Athletic's Michael Silver, Dianna Russini and Alec Lewis reported Saturday the four-time MVP is waiting on the Minnesota Vikings to make up their minds. If they rebuff him, then he could retire altogether.
For Wilson, the Giants can't make a compelling case in terms of their direction in 2025. They're coming off a 3-14 campaign and haven't made a lot of improvements through free agency.
Playing time could be a big selling point, though.
Tommy DeVito is the only quarterback New York has on its roster for the time being. Even if the team targets a QB in the first round of the draft, Wilson could plausibly be the Week 1 starter.
The 36-year-old's performance toward the end of 2024 did him few favors in terms of building up his value ahead of the offseason. The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their final four games of the regular season, a stretch that saw him throw for 698 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
The days of Wilson being a guaranteed starter might be over. Wherever he signs, he'll have to win the job during training camp.
The Giants at least give him one of the easiest paths to get there.
