Report: Adam Thielen Agrees to Revised Panthers Contract Ahead of 12th NFL Season

Taylyn Hadley Mar 12, 2025

The Carolina Panthers and wide receiver Adam Thielen have agreed to a revised contract ahead of his 12th NFL season, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The unrestricted free agent formerly signed a three-year, $25 million contract with the Panthers in 2023.

The 34-year-old recorded five touchdowns and 615 receiving yards in his second season with the Panthers last year.

Thielen started his career with the Minnesota Vikings, spending nine years with the team after going undrafted out of Minnesota State. He earned a solid starting role with the Vikings in 2016, starting 10 games and recording five touchdowns with 957 receiving yards. In the following two seasons, he earned Pro Bowl nods.

The Vikings released him ahead of the 2023 free agency after he had left a significant mark on the franchise, ranking third in all-time franchise receptions (534) and receiving touchdowns (55) and fourth in receiving yards (6,682).

Following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, questions were raised about whether the veteran would return for another season after the Panthers finished with a 5-12 record.

The wide receiver announced his return to football in an interview with Daily Mail at an LPGA golf tournament at the end of January, saying, "I have some more football in me."

"I had said after the season, like I just need two weeks to really think about it," Thielen told reporters. "And then once I make that decision I'm like, I'm going to do one more year. Then that's my mindset, and here we go. I didn't want to be wishy-washy, like maybe, maybe not... So whether it was a yes or a no, I just wanted to know so I can attack my offseason."

Now, it's official—Thielen is returning and he's coming back to Charlotte.
