Cooper Kupp Posts Farewell Video to L.A. After Rams Exit, Says 'Best is Yet to Come'

Cooper Kupp's time with the Los Angeles Rams is over, but he will forever be a franchise icon.

The wide receiver took to social media Wednesday and thanked Los Angeles "for welcoming my family with open arms and allowing us to grow here." He also included a farewell video and said "next chapter starts now. Best is yet to come."

Kupp's message comes after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Rams designated the wide receiver as a post-June 1 cut.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported the Rams attempted to trade the veteran but couldn't find a suitor that was willing to take on a contract that featured cap hits of $29.8 million this year and $27.3 million in 2026.

This isn't the first lengthy message that has included Kupp reflecting on his time with the Rams.

On Feb. 3, he revealed the NFC West team told him it was looking for a trade. "I don't agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA," he wrote at the time while still talking about the pride he felt playing in the city and thanking those who embraced him and his family:

It is impossible to call his time in Los Angeles anything but a success.

The Rams selected him with a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft, and he wasted no time establishing himself as a weapon with 869 receiving yards and five touchdown catches as a rookie. From there, he posted 1,161 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 2019 before one of the best wide receiver seasons in NFL history in 2021.

All he did that season was win Offensive Player of the Year as he led the league in catches (145), receiving yards (1,947) and touchdown catches (16). It didn't stop in the playoffs, as Kupp led the Rams to a Lombardi Trophy as the Super Bowl LVI MVP with eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Yet durability has been a concern at times, as he appeared in eight games in 2018, nine games in 2022, 12 games in 2023 and 12 games in 2024.

Kupp will turn 32 years old before next season and will look to stay healthy and figure out his place in a new offense.ย

Still, motivation likely won't be a question after the Rams parted ways with him. He also said the best is yet to come, which is sure to intrigue some potential suitors around the league.
