Video: Maxx Crosby Talks Geno Smith Trade, Says QB 'Fired Up' to Join Raiders
Maxx Crosby said on his podcast, The Rush, that Geno Smith was excited about joining the Las Vegas Raiders after the team traded a 2025 third-round pick to acquire him from the Seattle Seahawks.
"He was dope. He was super fired up," he said of Smith after the two FaceTimed following the trade (25:30 mark). "We had a great conversation. I'll obviously keep that between us. But I was extremely excited, I know he's extremely excited."

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
The move at least temporarily addressed the huge need at quarterback for the Raiders, though it doesn't mean they won't also add a young option at this year's draft. Smith is only under contract for one more season, though an extension may be in the works after the Raiders traded for him.
The 34-year-old had a career resurgence in Seattle after being a backup for much of his career, with a pair of Pro Bowl nods in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He seemed to take a bit of a step back last year, however, throwing for 4,320 yards, 21 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while completing 70.4 percent of his passes and taking 50 sacks. The sacks were the most in his career, while the interceptions were the most since he threw 21 as a rookie for the New York Jets.
He'll be an upgrade over players like Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell, however, solidifying the position for at least the next season. And Crosby, at the very least, is excited to have him onboard.
