NFL Rumors: Russell Wilson, Steelers Relationship Not 'In the Best Place' amid FA
The Pittsburgh Steelers could end up bringing neither of their 2024 quarterbacks back for a second season.
The day after Justin Fields signed with the New York Jets, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer said in a Tuesday appearance on the Rich Eisen Show that the relationship between Wilson and the Steelers is "not in the best place."

"I would just say there are some people that aren't keen on the idea of having Russell Wilson back there next year," Breer said at the 6:15 mark of the video. "Could they do it? Yes. Could those fences be mended? Yes.
"There's just some stuff that happened at the end of the year where, I don't know how the Steelers are going to put their belief in that... I'm not sure that relationship is in the best place, and has been in the best place."
The report comes two months after Wilson said following the Steelers' January elimination from the Wild Card round his "plan" was to re-sign in Pittsburgh.
Breer went on to say the Steelers likely considered Daniel Jones as a "Plan B," and would have been interested in Sam Darnold at a lower price.
Now that Jones has signed with the Indianapolis Colts and Darnold is locked in on a $100 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks, both of those options are off the table.
NBC Sports' Mike Florio reported Monday the Steelers had been talking with Aaron Rodgers for "several days," and that discussions "accelerated" as Fields turned toward signing with the Jets.
But Rodgers could also be poached by the New York Giants, with whom NFL Network's Mike Garafolo recently said the former New York Jets quarterback has had "great conversations."
If Rodgers ends up signing with the Jets and the Steelers part ways with Wilson, remaining free-agent options will be limited to candidates like Mac Jones or Marcus Mariota.
