Wharton, 26, posted a career-high 6.5 sacks in the 2024 season, nearly doubling his sacks from the previous four seasons (seven). He also had two sacks in the playoffs, as the Chiefs reached the Super Bowl yet again, and added 29 tackles, a forced fumble and two passes defensed during the regular season.
His addition was part of a defensive makeover for the Panthers on Monday, as the team also added defensive tackle Bobby Brown III, edge-rusher Patrick Jones II and safety Tre'von Moehrig in free agency, re-signed cornerback Mike Jackson and extended star corner Jaycee Horn.
