Lunar Owls Look to Complete Run of Dominance While Rose Seek A Second Upset
When the history books tell of the first season of Unrivaled basketball, they will focus heavily on the near-flawless performance of the Lunar Owls, led by arguably the best player in the league, Napheesa Collier, and her 23.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.9 steals.
The league's leading scorer, she fueled a team that also included veteran leadership from Skylar Diggins-Smith and 19.2 points from Allisha Gray. Their chemistry was undeniable as they rolled through the league, not suffering their first loss until February 21 against the Rose.
Appropriately enough, the Rose provides the greatest threat to the Lunar Owls' date with destiny. Chelsea Gray has balled out, averaging 18.6 points while Angel Reese has dominated the boards with a league-leading 12.1 per game.
The Lunar Owls are a scoring machine, averaging 79.8 points per game, over eight more than the second-ranked team. The Rose, on the other hand, dominate the boards, tallying 37.1 per game, three better than the next best.
A battle between them would not only be a rematch of the biggest upset this season but would dare the Lunar Owls to underestimate the Rose again, this time with the league title on the line.
Kayla McBride and the Laces will look to spoil that match-up by earning their way to the title game having already clinched a spot in the playoffs. They have the more winnable match-up against the Rose, while the final playoff entrant Vinyl has the unenviable task of slowing down the tournament's most dominant team.
