Report: Aaron Banks, Packers Agree to $77M Contract in Free Agency After 49ers Stint

Former San Francisco 49ers guard Aaron Banks is signing a four-year, $77 million deal with the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Banks, a 2021 second-round pick out of Notre Dame, started 13 games last season for San Francisco.

Despite the high total money in the contract, Banks' only guaranteed money at the time of signing comes from his signing bonus, per Spotrac.

Banks spent his rookie season in San Francisco in a reserve role before stepping into a starting position at left guard over the past three seasons. Since becoming a starter, he has played in 43 games, posting an 89.9 percent pass block win rate and a 66.5 percent run block win rate, per ESPN.

He had a career-best season last year in both categories, posting a 91.7 percent pass block win rate and a 69 percent run block win rate, according to ESPN.

The 27-year-old started a career-low 13 games last season after dealing with multiple injuries since earning a starting spot.

He suffered a concussion in late November during the 49ers' 38-10 loss against the Green Bay Packers and was sidelined two games after the injury. He was sidelined once again on Dec. 22 after he suffered a season-ending MCL injury against Miami.

He has since recovered and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2025 season with the Packers.

With the addition of Banks to the Packers' offensive lineup, there is an indication that Elgton Jenkins or Sean Rhyan could move to center to make room for him, as center Josh Myers is not likely to re-sign with Green Bay, per ESPN.
