Kinlaw spent the 2024 season with the New York Jets after playing his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He had 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2024.
Kinlaw gets his first longer-term deal after signing a one-year deal with the Jets last year. He gets $30 million guaranteed with the deal, and he reunites with Commanders general manager Adam Peters, who was in the 49ers front office when the team drafted Kinlaw.
The Commanders had a turnaround season in 2024, going 12-5 just one year after going 4-13 in 2023. 2024 first-round pick Jayden Daniels won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award for his play at quarterback, and the base looks promising for the team to remain a contender in the NFC.
Still, Washington cannot afford to lose any ground on teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, so adding a solid piece like Kinlaw will help the franchise keep pace.
