NFL Rumors: Patriots 'Would Love' DK Metcalf Trade; Insider Questions WR's Interest

Timothy RappMar 9, 2025

The New England Patriots reportedly would love to swing a deal for Seattle Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf. The feeling may not be mutual.

"The Patriots would love to make that trade but I don't know if he wants to go there is the question," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said during Sunday's SportsCenter.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported earlier on Sunday that Seattle's asking price for Metcalf "has lowered" to a package "centered around a second-round pick," but added that the veteran wideout is seeking "to play in a warm-weather climate and is looking to make $30 million per year."

Foxboro isn't exactly a warm-weather climate, and the Patriots aren't exactly a contending team, which could limit Metcalf's interest as well. If the Pats are willing to meet his salary requests, however, he may be willing to look past those concerns.

As for the Seahawks, the team has opened up talks in earnest.

"Everything's in a very cordial, professional place. Obviously, DK has requested a trade and we are entertaining that," general manager John Schneider told Seattle Sports 710 AM's Dave Wyman and Bob Stelton last week (h/t Kevin Patra of NFL.com). "We are talking to a ton of teams, taking offers, seeing what that looks like, and yeah, here we go."
