NFL Rumors: Seahawks Pitched Geno Smith, DK Metcalf Trade to Raiders for Maxx Crosby
The Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders completed a blockbuster trade on Friday, but it was almost larger.
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Seahawks offered quarterback Geno Smith and star wide receiver DK Metcalf to the Raiders in exchange for standout pass-rusher Maxx Crosby.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that Raiders general manager John Spytek shot the offer down and handed Crosby a three-year extension worth $106.5 million shortly afterwards.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Las Vegas ended up acquiring Smith in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick on Friday, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The veteran passer has one year remaining on his current deal, but Pelissero noted that he's "expected to get a new contract" from the Raiders.
As for Metcalf, he requested a trade from Seattle on Wednesday "after a series of conversations over the past two weeks" with the team's front office (via ESPN's Adam Schefter).
Metcalf is entering the final season of a three-year, $72 million contract that he signed with the Seahawks in 2022.
The potential acquisition of both Smith and Metcalf would have provided a major boost to a Raiders offense that struggled throughout the 2024 season, finishing No. 29 among all NFL teams with a scoring average of 18.2 points each week.
Las Vegas seemingly had no desire to part ways with Crosby, though.
The 27-year-old has served as a key contributor on the Raiders' defensive front, spending all six years of his career with the team.
While Crosby only appeared in 12 games last season due to an ankle injury, he still racked up 45 tackles and 35 pressures to go along with 7.5 sacks. His 20 percent pass-rush win rate ranked No. 9 among all edge-rushers in 2024, via ESPN.
Even though the Seahawks reportedly attempted to part ways with Smith and Metcalf in order to obtain Crosby, Las Vegas wasn't willing to do so.
