Abdul Carter Makes Cryptic Post Amid NFL Rumors Around Titans' No. 1 Draft Pick

Zach BacharMar 7, 2025

Penn State edge-rusher Abdul Carter posted a pair of cryptic emojis while navigating the predraft process Friday.

Carter met with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, according to ESPN's Turron Davenport. The Titans own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft and reportedly released edge-rusher Harold Landry, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Per Davenport, Tennessee also hosted Miami quarterback Cam Ward on Friday and is set to meet with Colorado's Shedeur Sanders on Monday.

Carter has been consistent in his belief that he should be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

"I feel like I'm the best player in the country and the best player should be selected No. 1," Carter previously told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Davenport and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler spoke with "dozens of league personnel" at the combine who believed that Tennessee's primary options with the No. 1 draft choice will be "Ward, Carter and trading out of the top spot."

The 21-year-old is coming off a dominant senior season with the Nittany Lions, racking up 68 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and two forced fumbles in 16 games.

In the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department, the Titans traded down from No. 1 to No. 3 in the draft before they were projected to add Carter. Sanders was selected with the top pick.

B/R NFL Scout Matt Holder highlighted Carter's exceptional athleticism in his scouting report.

"Carter is an elite athlete, which gives him a high ceiling as a pass-rusher at the next level," Holder wrote. "His get-off is very impressive as he explodes off the line of scrimmage and can win with speed around the edge when times up the snap."

After meeting with the Titans on Thursday, Carter still appears to view himself as the first player off the board once the draft begins on April 24.
