NFL Rumors: Giants Expected to Eye Top CBs in 2025 Free Agency; D.J. Reed Linked
The New York Giants are reportedly looking to secure a lockdown cornerback during 2025 free agency.
Jordan Raanan of ESPN reported that the Giants are "expected" to be a suitor for players at the top of the cornerback market and that New York Jets cornerback D.J. Reed is among those the team has "interest" in.
"Sources at the combine indicated the Giants are expected to shop near the top end of the cornerback market," Raanan wrote on Friday. "D.J. Reed is expected to have a strong market and won't come cheap, but there is interest. Charvarius Ward and Paulson Adebo are other options the Giants are expected to consider. They at least checked in on Minnesota's Byron Murphy II as well. New York will also look into Jaire Alexander should he shake free from Green Bay and not get traded."

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
New York had a difficult season in 2023, going 3-14 and finishing last in the NFC East. The Giants are currently slated to pick third in the 2025 NFL Draft and have several holes to fill on the roster.
New York's secondary was led by Adoree' Jackson and Deonte Banks in 2024. Jackson is a free agent this offseason while Banks is still on his rookie contract. New York only allowed 3,580 passing yards in 2024, which was eighth in the NFL, but adding a shutdown corner could help the unit rise further and push the Giants towards relevancy in the NFC.
Reed is entering is eighth NFL season and spent the last three with the cross-town Jets.
He has 414 tackles and six interceptions in his career and could provide some stability alongside Banks in the secondary as the Giants grapple with opposing divisional WR1s like A.J. Brown, CeeDee Lamb and Terry McLaurin on a regular basis.
